Ljungkrona-Mönttinen
Larisa Ljungkrona-Mönttinen is a musician based in Gothenburg. After several years of earnest work with her musical sound, she has developed her own expression on her instrument, the free-bass accordion. She often use vocals together with the accordion, and she searches for a contemporary and timeless approach to music and tradition.
Larisa composes and arranges in the projects she works with and she would be describes as a cross-border musician. Her playing is dynamic, at the same time forceful but also minimalistic and intimate.
Larisa has been active in the music scene since 2008, both full-time and part-time in addition to her music studies. In the spring of 2015, she was awarded the Albin Hagström scholarship for young accordionists and in 2017 she received the award "Newcomer of the Year" at the Folk and World Music Awards in Helsing-borg, together with her colleague Anki Wallgren and their duo Awilas.
She graduated Bachelor in Music in 2014 from the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, and she did 1 year exchange studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. During her Bachelor studies she studied for the accordionists Maria Kalaniemi and Hannu Kella.
Since graduating, Larisa works as a freelance musician primarily in her own projects, but also in various music, dance and theater performances. In addition to this, she also teaches accordion, both for private students and at student associations.
